Andrea Gibson haiku

#21

andrea gibson rocks.
I’m gonna see her tonight.
So HAPPY. Could die live.

this is today’s poem
because I cannot think straight.
She’s ‘handing out stars.’

tonight is gonna be phenomenal.

quickhaiku

Come with me tonight

There aren’t enough words to show

How far we have come.

Where we go from here

Is your guess as well as mine.

Close your eyes and jump.

A few haiku

#6 It was a dark and stormy night…

Dust storms in your eyes
Tornadoes spin in my chest
We fling our debris.

Moaning like the wind
Waiting for the coffee pot
I don’t want to leave.

Your breath in my ear
Lion’s teeth rake down my back
Home is far away.

Shake me like thunder
Your whispers hold me under
I wish you would stay.

(I know it’s not the ballad. more will come eventually.)

the anti-breakup

Most of the poems/songs I like are about breakups. Or are listened to during breakups. They’re just so good! (Some of my favourite Andrea Gibson and Chris Pureka songs seem to follow that thread…heartbreak never looked so gorgeous.)

But poetry has other uses, too. And my break up stories suck. At least, they do when they’re all about the break up. So here’s this instead.

the anti-breakup

smile like the moon
your eyes keep changing colour
relax when you fall

Short and sweet, but I wanted to get a post up for the week.
Peace, y’all.
